LOOZEN LAW
My perspective on antitrust is practical: ‘competition law must work’. If market competition is meant toincrease welfare, competition policy should only target business practices that, by way of limiting competition, decrease welfare.
I offer three types of expert work:
- commissioned research reporting for governmental institutions and other interested parties,
- legal advice to businesses in specific cases, and
- legal advice to law firms in need of off-counsel expertise.
Common denominator is that I get to the point fast and avoid legalese at all times. The result is tailored and cutting-edge reporting or advice.
My commissioned research work includes, amongst other, the following projects:
- Evaluation of healthcare-specific merger control thresholds commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Health (competition analysis leader; together with Andersson Elffers Felix) https://open.overheid.nl/
- Benchmarking report Dutch health insurance system commissioned by Euromonitor (not published)
- Analysis of the Dutch market-based healthcare system where competition enforcement and market regulation help ensure the quality and affordability of healthcare commissioned by the American Chamber of Commerce (project-leader; together with M. Varkevisser and F. Schut, Erasmus University; https://eur.nl/
Special fields/sectors/areas/jurisdictions of expertise are:
- cooperation, use of dominance, merger control, services of general economic interest, state aid
- market regulation
- healthcare and health insurance
- pharmaceuticals
- sustainability
- digital markets
- EU, NL, and, in healthcare, UK, US, France and Germany.
